Why can’t I use any kind of detergent to clean my SCBA gear?

Not all detergents are safe for SCBA equipment. Harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners can damage seals, lenses, and regulators, compromising both safety and performance. Always use a manufacturer-approved SCBA detergent.

Is it required to use special detergents when cleaning SCBA equipment?

NFPA 1850, the standard for firefighter gear care and maintenance, recommend using only detergents with official statements of compatibility when cleaning SCBA. Using the wrong detergent can compromise both functionality and firefighter safety.

Can Puro C87 Detergent be used in any washing machine?

Puro C87 can be used as a detergent in any decon washer from Rescue Intellitech. For optimal results, we recommend using it with our specialized equipment, such as the Solo Rescue.

Can Puro C87 be used to clean other types of PPE?

Puro C87 can also be used for cleaning PPE other than SCBA under certain conditions. The feasibility of washing other gear must always be determined in consultation with your PPE manufacturer and our team to ensure compatibility. As per NFPA 1850, the PPE manufacturer must provide an official statement of compatibility for the detergent used.

How do I know if Puro C87 is suitable for my SCBA?

Puro C87 has an official statement of compliance from MSA Safety and 3M Scott for their SCBA equipment.
